Fisherman's Retreat Wedding Videographer

Paul and Michelle got married during May 2019. Having shot Paul’s sisters wedding last year, it was nice to see many familiar faces at their Fisherman’s Retreat wedding in Ramsbottom.

A morning where the bride got wedding day butterflies…

Michelle had the comfort of their family home to get all of her bridal preparations complete. Having the support of her bridesmaids, flower girls and mother all there to help her settle wedding day nerves. Paul had left two thoughtful letters for her to open. One when she first started to get ready and one to open before she put on her wedding dress.

Travelling to the venue in style, they had the award winning wedding car hire company Horgan’s Cars supply an Imperial Landaulette.

A wedding ceremony in the heart of the pennine hills…

Fisherman’s retreat is a Lancashire wedding venue in the midst of the Twine Valley. A plot that was purchased in 1981, it originally contained four fishing lodges which is where the name of the Lancashire wedding venue derives from. The decade following, much time was spent in redeveloping the plot. The venue has taken a lot of pride in its heritage, with 90% of the building structure sourced from reclaimed material. Officially opening its doors to the public in 1992, The Fisherman's Retreat has evolved from a fisherman’s paradise, to now be home to an award winning bar and restaurant. The venue also now takes a lot of pride in offering a space specifically designed for brides and grooms who would love to get married in the Lancashire countryside.

Paul and Michelle enjoyed their surroundings at the reception venue. With a large glass wall in the function room that holds the wedding ceremony, boasting the greenery that surrounds as the bride makes her walk down the aisle.

Michelle wore a dress that she purchased from the Yorkshire based bridal shop Dotty Bridal. Also wearing a tiara, she preceded to walk down the aisle with music being played by the local harpist Lowri Cope. Guests had the lovely sound of the harp for the duration of the ceremony build up and throughout. This is an element that inspired many of my music choices in the couples wedding feature film.

Having a portraits session around the beautiful mere at the venue, Fitchett’s Photography had the privilege of snapping all the wedding photographs. These shots looked stunning in the wedding film, along with glorious views over the valleys and a few wind farms too.

There was a huge sense of togetherness in the wedding day with many family members attending from both of the couples families.

With their first dance drawing the night to a close, a trip to Barbados was on the cards for the couple’s honeymoon. This was well represented in their wedding cake shaped like the world and a little flag right on their destination of pure luxury for the first weeks to come as husband and wife!
